Description
Domaine Vincent Dancer Meursault Les Corbins comes from a rocky village lieu-dit on the Volnay side of the commune, planted in 1986.
Meursault is the largest of the Côte de Beaune's white-wine communes and its village lieux-dits vary widely in character. Les Corbins lies at the southern end, towards Volnay, on very stony ground with deeper clay than the Chassagne sites Vincent Dancer also farms, and that clay is what gives the wine its flesh and depth. Dancer's vines here went in during 1986. The domaine works without herbicide, harvests by hand at moderate ripeness and presses whole bunches, fermenting with natural yeasts in barrel. Ageing is in older oak with minimal handling and no push towards richness, which is why these Meursaults tend to read as fine and citrus-driven rather than broad. Bottling is done without heavy filtration.
Give it two or three years and drink over the following eight. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a mature Beaufort.
