Domaine Vincent Dancer Pommard 1er Cru Les Pézerolles 2021

Domaine Vincent Dancer Pommard 1er Cru Les Pézerolles comes from a small parcel planted in 1978 in one of the highest premiers crus in the commune.

Les Pézerolles lies above Les Petits Épenots and the Clos des Epeneaux, on the Volnay side of Pommard and among the highest of the village's premiers crus. It has long been regarded as one of the sites that gives finesse in a commune better known for firmness, and its wines are often described as closer in style to Volnay than to Pommard proper. Several established growers hold vines here, including De Montille and Lafarge. Dancer's parcel is small and was planted in 1978, so the vines are mature and naturally low-yielding. As with the rest of the domaine's reds, the fruit is fully destemmed, extraction is deliberately gentle and the wine is raised in older barrels, producing fine, powdery tannin and clear red fruit rather than heft.

Best from three years and good for twelve or more. Serve at 16-18°C with roast lamb, duck breast or a mature Époisses.
