Description
Domaine Vincent Girardin Santenay Vieilles Vignes is an old-vine village red from Santenay, the southernmost red-wine commune of the Côte de Beaune.
Santenay's varied clay-limestone soils yield honest, well-priced Pinot Noir that has become increasingly sought after as a more affordable route into serious Burgundian winemaking. Domaine Vincent Girardin, founded in Meursault in 1980 by Vincent Girardin, built its reputation on meticulous, near-biodynamic farming — avoiding herbicides and insecticides, using natural composts, and hand-harvesting and sorting all fruit — a philosophy carried on by winemaker Eric Germain since the estate passed to the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in 2012.
A versatile, food-friendly red, it suits everything from roast poultry to charcuterie and hard cheeses.
