Domaine Vincent Girardin Volnay Vieilles Vignes 375ml 2023

Domaine Vincent Girardin Volnay Vieilles Vignes is a medium-bodied red Burgundy from old-vine Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune.

Old vines spread across the appellation give this village wine extra depth, since they crop so lightly. Volnay's slim band of limestone favours scent and finesse over power, and the winery's unforced approach suits it. Organic and biodynamic farming, hand sorting, largely destemmed fruit and just a small portion of new barrels.

Scented and supple, with red cherry, rose and cool, fine tannin. Lovely now and better in a few years, and the half-bottle is just right for one or two. Try it at 15-16°C with duck, roast pork or mushrooms.
