Domaine Vincent Latour Bourgogne Blanc 2021

Domaine Vincent Latour Bourgogne Blanc is a white Burgundy made by a Meursault family under the region's broadest appellation.

The regional Bourgogne appellation covers the whole of Burgundy and asks very little, which makes it the classification where the grower's own standards matter most; a wine made by a Meursault domaine, from vines close to the village, is a different proposition from a bulk bottling. Domaine Vincent Latour is based in Meursault, where the family has grown vines for several generations; it has no connection to the merchant house of Louis Latour in Beaune. Vincent Latour took over from his father in the early 2000s and has since brought the domaine's own barrel making and a more measured hand with new oak. The whites are whole-bunch pressed, fermented in barrel and given a long elevage on lees before bottling. Wines of this kind are often described as a way into a domaine's style without the cost of its premier crus.

A dependable white for roast chicken, fish, shellfish or soft cheese, best served at about 11 degrees.
