Domaine Vincent Latour Meursault 1er Cru Perrières 2021

Domaine Vincent Latour Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is a taut, smoky premier cru Meursault built for the cellar.

The Perrières vineyard sits upslope from Charmes, where rocky limestone comes close to the surface and the vines work hard for water, giving small crops of intense fruit. It is widely considered Meursault's leading premier cru. From a family domaine in the village, the wine is fermented and aged in barrel in the traditional Burgundian style. It shows smoke and vanilla over a highly mineral core, with power and a firm, slightly austere finish. The 2021 vintage was reduced by spring frost, so wines from the year are scarce.

Serve lightly chilled, around 12 degrees, alongside grilled crayfish, chicken in a morel cream sauce or a nutty aged Gruyère. Cellar it for several years to see it at its best.
