Description
Domaine Vincent Latour Meursault 1er Cru Poruzot is a white Burgundy from one of the premier crus set on the northern slope of Meursault, in the run of vineyards that includes Genevrieres and Bouchieres.
Meursault is the largest of the Cote de Beaune's white wine communes and the one most closely associated with barrel fermented Chardonnay. It has no grand cru, so the finest sites are its premier crus, of which Poruzot is among the smaller, lying on limestone and marl in the northern sector of the commune. The Latour family have been growers and merchants in the village for generations, and Vincent Latour took charge of the domaine in the mid 2000s. Fruit is picked by hand and whole bunch pressed, then fermented and matured in barrel with a restrained proportion of new oak and an extended period on fine lees before bottling.
Serve at around 12 degrees with roast poultry, veal or scallops, and expect the wine to reward several years in a cool cellar.
