Description
Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre Domaine comes from the slope immediately beyond Les Clos, long regarded as the finest of the Chablis Premiers Crus.
Only a small valley separates Montée de Tonnerre from the Grand Cru hill, and it shares the same south-west exposure above the right bank of the Serein and the same Kimmeridgian marl, which is why its wines are so often mistaken for Grand Cru in blind company. The climats of Chapelot and Pied d'Aloup sit within it. William Fèvre founded the domaine in 1959 and built the largest Grand Cru holding in Chablis; the Henriot family bought the estate in 1998 and Didier Séguier has made the wines since, picking by hand and using older barrels and steel rather than new oak.
Serve at around 12 degrees with roast fish, poultry or veal; and suit both a larger table and a longer stay in the cellar.
