Description
Domaine Xavier Monnot Bourgogne Blanc Les Grandes Coutures is a white Burgundy from a named parcel, made by a Meursault domaine at regional appellation level.
Bourgogne Blanc is the broadest of the region's white appellations, but the phrase covers a wide range of realities: land on the flat below the main slope, young vines, or parcels that simply fall outside a village boundary by a matter of metres. When a serious Côte de Beaune domaine names the parcel on the label, it usually signals that the fruit is treated no differently from the wines above it. Xavier Monnot is based in Meursault, the village that more or less defines barrel fermented Chardonnay, and the whites here are made the same way: pressed whole bunch, fermented and aged in oak, with restrained use of new wood.
Serve at around 12 degrees with roast chicken, grilled fish, or a simple dish of pasta with cream and herbs.
