Domaine Xavier Monnot Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes 2021

Domaine Xavier Monnot Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes is a white Burgundy from the largest and one of the best known of Meursault's Premiers Crus.

Les Charmes lies in the middle of the run of Premiers Crus on the southern side of Meursault, between Genevrières above and the boundary with Puligny beyond, on deep limestone soils that give the wines their characteristic breadth. It is a large climat, divided between an upper and lower section, and growers with parcels in the upper part generally have the better of it. Meursault has no Grand Cru, so its finest sites carry the village's reputation on their own. Xavier Monnot runs the domaine from the village itself and makes his whites in the traditional Meursault manner, pressed whole bunch, fermented in barrel and left on lees before bottling.

Serve at around 12 to 13 degrees with roast chicken, scallops, veal or a mild cheese; it will hold well in the cellar for the better part of a decade.
