Domaine Yves Cuilleron Saint Joseph 'Les Serines' Syrah 2023

Domaine Yves Cuilleron Saint Joseph 'Les Serines' is a full-bodied, old-vine northern Rhône Syrah with real concentration.

The name comes from the old, small-berried strain of Syrah grown here before modern clones arrived, which crops lightly and gives more perfume and depth. Those older vines grow on the steep granite terraces around Chavanay, Mauves and Tournon, where everything is worked manually. Picked by hand, the fruit has a long maceration on skins and then around eighteen months in French barrels, some new. This is a Saint-Joseph for serious occasions, well above the everyday level.

Blackberry, cracked pepper and a smoky, mineral depth over ripe tannin. Decant if drinking it young, then serve at 17–18°C with grilled beef, lamb shoulder or a peppered steak.
