Description

Domaines Schlumberger Les Princes Abbés Pinot Gris comes from the terraces above Guebwiller in southern Alsace.

Pinot Gris in Alsace is a far richer proposition than the Italian style of the same grape: fuller, smoky and often carrying a trace of residual sugar, it suits the region's dry, sunny conditions in the lee of the Vosges. Schlumberger farms around a hundred and forty hectares biodynamically, much of it on terraces too steep for machinery.

Serve at 11 degrees with pork, mushroom dishes or a washed-rind cheese. Drink over the next six years.
