Dormilona Cupid Chenin Blanc 2025

Dormilona Cupid Chenin Blanc is a Margaret River Chenin Blanc fermented on skins and finished in large barrel.

Gravelly loam over limestone at Yungarra Estate again, but the vessel changes this vintage: after primary and secondary fermentation on skins in concrete egg, the wine was basket pressed off to a 600-litre demi-muid and eventually bottled by hand straight from that barrel. Large, seasoned wood at that size gives a slow, gentle maturation without any oak flavour. Jo Perry describes Cupid as something of an accident, in the best sense, a wine shaped by decisions made as it went along, leaning into structure and quiet complexity while keeping its freshness intact.

Full of nuance without any heaviness: lemon curd, dried apple, a waxy texture and a dry, faintly bitter close. Serve at 11 degrees. Good with a roast chicken, grilled pork chops, a salad of witlof and walnuts, or aged Gouda.
