Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Langenmorgen Riesling 2021

Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Langenmorgen Riesling is a Grand Cru from a small, sheltered site on the Deidesheim slope.

Langenmorgen is one of the smaller classified vineyards of the Mittelhaardt, lying at the southern edge of Deidesheim between the village and Ruppertsberg. Its soils combine limestone and weathered sandstone with a loamy topsoil, and the site is warm and early ripening, giving a Riesling with pronounced ripeness and a firm mineral spine. Dr. Bürklin-Wolf ranks it G.C., the estate's own Grand Cru designation, taken from the historic vineyard classification the domaine reinstated. All farming is biodynamic and Demeter certified. Hand-harvested fruit is whole-bunch pressed and fermented spontaneously in large old oak Stückfass, then left on fine lees for an extended period before the wine is bottled dry.

Rich, dry and tightly structured, and it rewards cellaring; serve at around 12 degrees with roast veal, poultry in cream, or firm mountain cheese.
