Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Gaisböhl 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Gaisböhl is a dry Grand Cru Riesling from the estate's monopole vineyard at Ruppertsberg, here in magnum.

Gaisböhl is a walled site on the southern edge of Ruppertsberg owned in its entirety by Dr. Bürklin-Wolf, one of very few monopoles in the Pfalz. Its soils are deeper and sandier, with loam and gravel over sandstone, which gives a rounder, broader Riesling than the basalt sites of Forst while keeping the estate's dry, structured signature. The estate, founded at Wachenheim in 1597, ranks the vineyard as Grand Cru in its Burgundian classification and has farmed biodynamically under Demeter certification since the mid-2000s. Fruit is picked in successive passes, fermented dry with ambient yeasts and matured in large oak casks on fine lees.

Powerful and dry with the weight to handle rich food, it works with lobster, veal, poultry in cream sauce and aged cheese; serve at around 12 degrees.
