Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Hommage à Luise kabinett style 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Hommage à Luise is a low-alcohol, lightly sweet Pfalz Riesling made in a Mosel kabinett idiom, here in magnum.

Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf has been based at Wachenheim in the Mittelhaardt since 1597 and farms biodynamically, with Demeter certification held since the middle of the 2000s. The estate classifies its vineyards in a Burgundian hierarchy of estate, village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites along the slope from Wachenheim through Forst, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg. Hommage à Luise is named for Luise Bürklin-Wolf and is deliberately made in a light kabinett style rather than the dry Pfalz norm: picked early, fermented to just 9.5 per cent alcohol and left with 31.9 grams per litre of residual sugar, which reads as gently off-dry against the acidity. It is sealed under screwcap.

Light, fresh and just off-dry, it is easy with aperitifs, salads, ham and mildly spiced food; serve chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees.
