Dry River Pinot Gris 2022

Dry River Pinot Gris is a rich, textural Pinot Gris from one of Martinborough's founding estates.

Dry River's Pinot Gris has long been regarded as one of New Zealand's finest, made in a generous style that owes more to Alsace than to Italian Pinot Grigio. The estate, founded in 1979, keeps yields low on its stony Martinborough terraces, which gives the wine concentration and the structure to age. Dry, windy conditions in the Wairarapa and a long growing season let the fruit ripen fully while keeping some freshness. The winery describes the 2022 as lavish and charming, with a broad, generous palate and a fine phenolic tension through the finish.

This is a white with enough weight for richer dishes. Serve cool, around 10 degrees, with pork belly, roast duck, creamy chicken dishes or aged Gruyère.
