DuMOL Wild Mountainside Syrah Russian River Valley 2022

DuMOL Wild Mountainside Syrah Russian River Valley is a savoury, cool-climate Syrah from a small Sonoma producer.

The winery's take on this grape looks more to the northern Rhône than to warmer Californian styles, and fog-cooled valley fruit suits that savoury outlook. Fermentation happens in small lots, followed by French oak. The team have been at it since the mid-1990s, drawing on their own plantings and long-term growers.

Dark plum and black pepper, with a savoury, finely structured palate. A short decant helps if you're drinking it young. Serve at 16–18°C with lamb, venison, charred eggplant or peppered steak.
