DuMOL Wild Mountainside Syrah Russian River Valley 2023

DuMOL Wild Mountainside Syrah Russian River Valley is a peppery, cool-grown Syrah with a northern Rhône feel.

Pacific air and morning fog keep western Sonoma cool, which slows things down for the grapes. The fruit is fermented in small, separate lots and matured in French oak, and the style leans savoury, well away from the warmer Californian mould. Estate plantings and long-standing grower relationships supply the winery.

Look for dark plum, cracked black pepper and fine, savoury structure. Open it a little ahead if drinking it young, then pour at 16–18°C with lamb, venison, charred eggplant or a peppered steak.
