Easthope Family Winegrowers Home Block Chardonnay 2025

Easthope Family Winegrowers Home Block Chardonnay is a Hawke's Bay white off a red-gravel rise at Mangatahi, hand-picked and pressed as whole bunches.

At 165 metres above sea level, with a gentle tilt to the north, the Mangatahi vineyard sits on deep red gravel and never sees irrigation. Rod and Emma Easthope handle the farming, the pressing and the bottling themselves, which keeps every call in one place. The 2025 season gave them a warm, settled spring and an even set of fruit.

Peaches and cream come first, with a little acacia and roasted hazelnut, then a layered palate and a long close. Take it out of the fridge ten minutes before pouring, closer to 12C, and try it with scallops, roast chicken or a creamy pasta.
