Easthope Family Winegrowers Two Terraces Vineyard Gamay Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Hawke's Bay red built on whole bunches and a two-grape blend the family never planned.

Maraekakaho, inland from the coast, is where the Easthopes found these old vines, and 2025 is their tenth vintage with Gamay. DNA testing after an earlier harvest showed that a run of what everyone had called Gamay was in fact Pinot Noir, so the mix arrived by accident and stayed. Picking is done by hand, the bunches go into the ferment whole, feet do the work of a pump, and seasoned puncheons take it from there.

Floral and aromatic to smell, with bright red fruits, fine tannins and a satin feel through the middle. Pour it slightly chilled, around 14C, alongside charcuterie, duck breast or a mushroom risotto.
