Equipo Navazos La Bota 111 Manzanilla Florpower MMXVIII

Equipo Navazos La Bota 111 Manzanilla Florpower is a single-vintage, single-vineyard manzanilla built on an unfortified base wine.

Manzanilla is normally blended through a solera, so a young manzanilla from one vintage and one site is unusual. The base here is La Bota de Florpower 97, an unfortified Palomino Fino from 2018 that spent a year under flor before being lightly fortified to fifteen per cent. It was then aged in Sanlúcar de Barrameda for almost three years under the traditional biological system, the veil of flor kept alive by the town's humid Atlantic air, which protects the wine from oxidation and gives manzanilla its characteristic salinity and cut. As with all the Florpower wines, the fruit comes from Palomino Fino vines of fifty-five and eighty-five years in the La Baja plot of the pago Miraflores, Sanlúcar's most highly regarded vineyard. It is bottled under screwcap.

Serve well chilled at 8-10°C in a wine glass, and drink the bottle within a few days, with olives, jamón, grilled prawns or tortilla.
