Description
La Bota 43 is a single-cask Brandy de Jerez, bottled by Equipo Navazos at thirteen years of age.
Brandy de Jerez is aged by the same solera system used for sherry, in casks that have previously held sherry, and Equipo Navazos applies to it the single-cask approach it uses for its wines. This release follows La Bota No. 29 and is the second of three barrels bottled two years apart from the same source. The spirit was thirteen years old when bottled, with the last three of those years spent in an old manzanilla cask at Rey Fernando de Castilla in El Puerto de Santa María, a lighter and drier finishing than an oloroso butt would give and one that leaves the brandy floral rather than sweet. The whole butt was bottled, in 500ml format, so the release is finite and not repeatable. Alongside its older sibling it shows a degree of finesse unusual for the category.
Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, after dinner with almonds, dark chocolate or aged cheese.
