Equipo Navazos La Bota 89 Whisky Grain, Bota NO

Equipo Navazos La Bota 89 is a single-cask Spanish grain whisky bottled at 46 per cent.

Spain making grain whisky at all surprises people; doing it in Castilla la Vieja, in the north, and then sending it south to finish in Jerez is stranger still. This one is the sister cask to the Bota 66 malt shipped a few years earlier. The new make was grown and pot-distilled in Castilla la Vieja, and of its estimated fourteen years, the last seven were in a single solera cask that had held very old dry Oloroso. Bottled in 2018. One cask, one filling, no repeat, which is how the whole numbered series works.

Roasted grain and pipe tobacco with a soft, smoky edge, then honeyed sweetness that reads almost like bourbon without the vanillin, and a spicy, saline, fully knitted finish. Pour it neat in a small glass at room temperature.
