Espectacle Montsant Tinto 2021

Espectacle Montsant Tinto is a rare, old-vine Grenache from a single dramatic hillside vineyard in Montsant, Catalonia.

Montsant wraps around the more famous Priorat appellation and shares much of its rugged, slate-and-limestone terrain, though its wines are often slightly more open and approachable in style. Espectacle is a collaborative project between the Barbier and Meyer family of Clos Mogador, Fernando Zamora and Christopher and Charlotte Cannan, farmed on a steep, amphitheatre-shaped site overlooking the Ebro delta. The fruit comes from centenary Grenache vines rooted in clay-limestone soils layered with slate, hand-selected and fermented in open oak vats before extended ageing in large foudres.
