Description
Fabien Coche Auxey-Duresses blanc is drawn from a parcel that borders Les Luchets on the upper slope of Meursault, right on the boundary between the two communes.
Auxey-Duresses sits in the valley running up behind Meursault towards Saint-Romain, and its white vineyards on the Meursault-facing side can be very good indeed, giving wines with more flesh than Saint-Romain but the same cool-valley freshness. This parcel borders Les Luchets, the well-known lieu-dit high on the Meursault slope, which places it on the commune boundary and explains the wine's relatively rich, Meursault-leaning character. Fabien Coche took over the family domaine from his father Alain Coche-Bizouard and works with whole-bunch pressing, fermentation and ageing in barrel, restrained new oak and long lees ageing. The bottle is sealed with a Diam closure.
Fuller than most Auxey whites, it suits roast poultry, veal and gratins; serve at around 12 degrees.
