Fabien Duveau Saumur blanc Hunaudiere is a Chenin Blanc drawn from a single parcel of vines averaging around thirty years of age.

Saumur blanc is made from Chenin Blanc grown on tuffeau, the soft white limestone that underlies the town and the villages around it and that gives the region both its cellars and its cliff-face architecture. The rock is porous and free-draining, so vines struggle for water in dry seasons and produce small, concentrated berries with high acidity; the resulting wines are dry, taut and mineral rather than fleshy. This bottling comes from a named site planted on average around thirty years ago, old enough for the roots to be well into the limestone.

Dry, brisk and mineral; serve at 10 to 12 degrees with oysters, white fish or fresh goat's cheese.
