Fabien Duveau Saumur-Champigny Bourg 2023

Fabien Duveau Saumur-Champigny Bourg is a Cabernet Franc from a parcel close to the village, also bottled in magnum.

The Saumur-Champigny plateau sits above the Loire and the Thouet, protected to the north by the river and to the west by the forest of Fontevraud, a shelter that lets Cabernet Franc ripen more evenly here than anywhere else in the region. Under a shallow cover of sand and clay lies tuffeau limestone, which keeps the wines fine boned and fresh. Fabien Duveau farms organically and vinifies parcel by parcel. This cuvee is hand harvested, fermented on its own yeasts with gentle extraction, and raised without new oak so the emphasis stays on fruit, chalky tannin and drinkability.

A svelte, food-friendly red for charcuterie, grilled meats and root vegetables; serve at around 15 to 16 degrees.
