Description
Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 'Aux Beaux Bruns' is a single-vineyard red from one of the smaller premier crus of a famously small commune.
Chambolle-Musigny is squeezed between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot on the Cote de Nuits, and its vineyards sit on shallow, stony limestone with little clay, a soil profile traditionally credited with the finesse the village is known for. The commune took the name of its greatest vineyard, Le Musigny, in 1878, and around its grand crus lies a mosaic of premier crus of which Aux Beaux Bruns is one. Faiveley was founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825 and has passed through seven generations of the same family, assembling along the way one of the largest holdings of premier and grand cru land in Burgundy. Erwan Faiveley took charge in 2005 and oversaw a shift towards gentler handling in the cellar.
Decant briefly and serve at 15 to 16C with duck, game birds or roast veal; give it a few years in bottle and expect it to hold for a decade or more.
