Description
Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 'Les Charmes' comes from the largest premier cru of the Cote de Nuits commune most associated with finesse.
Les Charmes lies on the gentler lower slope close to the village of Chambolle-Musigny, on shallow limestone soils with a little more depth than the steeper ground above. Chambolle itself is a small commune wedged between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot, and it added the name of its greatest vineyard, Le Musigny, to its own in 1878. Its premier crus are numerous and vary considerably from one to the next. Faiveley was founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825 and has passed through seven generations of the same family, assembling along the way one of the largest holdings of premier and grand cru land in Burgundy. Erwan Faiveley took charge in 2005 and oversaw a shift towards gentler handling in the cellar.
Decant briefly and serve at 15 to 16C with duck, roast veal, game birds or mushroom dishes; it will improve for several years and hold well beyond that.
