Description
Famille Perrin Réserve Côtes-du-Rhône Rosé is a dry southern French rosé from the family behind Chateau de Beaucastel.
The Cotes du Rhone appellation stretches along both banks of the river from Vienne down to Avignon and is the workhorse of the region, though the best of it comes from the sunbaked south. The Perrin family have farmed at Chateauneuf-du-Pape for four generations and built the Reserve range by drawing on growers and their own holdings across the southern Rhone. Cinsault and Grenache form the base, with Mourvedre and Syrah adding backbone; the fruit is picked early to hold acidity, pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel with no oak, so the wine goes to bottle bright and unadorned. Rosé here is made dry as a matter of course, and in quantity.
Serve well chilled, at around 8 degrees, with salads, grilled prawns, tapenade or anything eaten outdoors in summer. It is best drunk young, within a year or two of release.
