Famille Perrin Réserve Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2023

Famille Perrin Réserve Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is the southern Rhone red from the family who have farmed Chateau de Beaucastel for four generations.

Cotes du Rhone is the broad appellation that underpins the whole valley, and in its southern half the vineyards sit on clay, limestone and rolled stones under a hot sun and a scouring mistral. The Reserve is the Perrin family's calling card at this level, blending Grenache with Mourvedre and Syrah from vineyards across the south, including holdings farmed by the family themselves. Grenache brings warmth and body, Syrah lends structure and Mourvedre depth. Fermentation is in concrete and stainless steel rather than new oak, which keeps the wine direct and true to the region. The appellation covers well over a hundred communes and makes more wine than any other in the Rhone.

Serve at around 16 degrees, with a brief chill on a hot day, alongside grilled meats, sausages, ratatouille or roast chicken.
