Description
Fattoria La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG is a Tuscan red from one of the oldest recognised wine zones in Italy.
Montepulciano, in south eastern Tuscany, was making wine of renown long before the modern denominations existed, and Vino Nobile was among the first Italian wines awarded DOCG status, in 1980. The grape is Sangiovese, known locally as Prugnolo Gentile, and the rules allow a proportion of other varieties to be blended alongside it. La Braccesca is the Antinori family's estate in the area, acquired in 1990, with vineyards spread between the Montepulciano zone and neighbouring Cortona. The wine is matured in oak, in a combination of larger casks and smaller barrels, for the period the denomination requires before it can be released.
A classic match for Tuscan roast meats, ribollita and aged pecorino; serve at around 17 degrees, and it will hold in the cellar for several years.
