Fervor 'Nonno Lou' Sangiovese 2024

Fervor Nonno Lou Sangiovese is a rare Western Australian reading of Tuscany's great red grape.

Fruit comes from the Rocky Horror vineyard at Mount Barker, planted in 1996 in the cool inland corner of the Great Southern. Mike and Callum Garland handle it lightly: small open fermenters, hand plunging twice daily, pressing at dryness and then rest in a thirty-year-old 1800-litre Italian botte. The name honours Callum's grandfather Luciano, who came from Lucca.

Sour cherry and red berry sit inside a savoury web of fine tannin, with leafy herbs and bright acid keeping it light on its feet. Serve at 16 degrees with ragu, grilled sausages or a margherita pizza.
