Fitapreta Pequeno Eremita Branco 2025

Fitapreta Pequeno Eremita Branco is the gentler white off the estate's old hermit vineyard, a blend of four almost-forgotten Alentejo varieties grown at the foot of the Serra d'Ossa.

Rabo de Ovelha, Roupeiro, Trincadeira das Pratas and Alicante Branco share one old plot, where water moving underground keeps the roots cool while the heat builds overhead. Harvest is done at night and the bunches are pressed whole, with no sulphur going in until fermentation has finished. Both the alcoholic and malolactic ferments start by themselves, after which there are nine months on fine lees, two thirds in steel tanks and a third in used French oak.

Lees ageing has given this one a soft, textured feel, and it stays dry and savoury through the finish. Try it at 8–10°C on its own as an aperitif, or with oven-baked cod, white meats or a young sheep's milk cheese.
