Fontodi Syrah Casa Via 2022

Fontodi Syrah Casa Via is a full-bodied Syrah from the galestro soils of Panzano in Tuscany, bottled as Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT.

It started as an experiment, and it stayed because the site works: the elevation of the Conca d'Oro gives northern Rhône proportions instead of sunbaked weight. Chianti Classico doesn't permit this grape, which explains the broader regional label. The whole estate is farmed organically, and these vines get the same care as the Sangiovese, from hand-picking and fermentation on skins to maturation in French oak barrels.

Black fruit, olive and pepper over a firm tannic frame. A short decant helps it open. Good at 17–18°C with grilled lamb, sausages or slow-cooked beef ribs.
