Frederic & Daniel Brunier Mégaphone Ventoux Rouge 2023

Frederic & Daniel Brunier Mégaphone Ventoux Rouge comes from the higher, cooler slopes below Mont Ventoux, the Brunier family's venture outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The Ventoux appellation runs along the western and southern flanks of Mont Ventoux, the great bare peak that rises above the Vaucluse. Vineyards here sit higher and cooler than those on the Rhône valley floor, with limestone in the soils and a wide swing between day and night temperatures that keeps the wines lighter on their feet than much of the south. Frédéric and Daniel Brunier, of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, took on this Ventoux estate and farm it to the same standard as their home vineyards. Grenache and Syrah make up the blend, raised in concrete and large older wood rather than new barrels.

Serve at around 16 degrees with grilled meats, herb-roasted vegetables or a Provençal daube. It drinks well young and will hold for several years.
