Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett is a low-alcohol Mosel Riesling from one of the Middle Mosel's most famous slopes, here in magnum.

The Haag family have grown vines at Brauneberg since 1605 and the estate is now run by Oliver Haag. Its holdings sit in the Juffer and the smaller Juffer Sonnenuhr, a steep, south-facing amphitheatre of blue Devonian slate rising directly above the Mosel opposite the village. Slate warms quickly, drains hard and forces the vines deep, and the river reflects light back onto the slope, ripening Riesling that still keeps searching acidity. Kabinett is the lightest of the Prädikat levels here, picked at modest must weights, fermented slowly with a portion of residual sugar left in balance against the acidity, and bottled at low alcohol.

Delicate and off-dry with a fine sweet-sour balance, it is a natural match for spiced Asian dishes, pork and fresh cheeses, or drinks well alone; serve at around 8 to 10 degrees.
