Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Trocken GG 2022

Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Trocken GG is a dry Grosses Gewächs Riesling from the broad slate amphitheatre that made Brauneberg's name.

The Juffer covers the main face of the Brauneberg, a steep south-facing wall of grey Devonian slate directly opposite the village that was ranked among the most valuable vineyard land on the Mosel in the nineteenth century. The Haag family has held parcels here since 1605 and works them by hand, with old vines, low yields and selective picking. For the Grosses Gewächs the must is fermented with ambient yeasts in stainless steel and traditional Fuder cask, then left on full lees through the winter and bottled dry at 4 grams per litre of residual sugar. VDP rules cap the yield and hold the wine back until the autumn following the harvest.

Dry, tightly wound and mineral, it suits trout, scallops, poultry and veal; serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
