Fromm Chardonnay 2022

Fromm Chardonnay is an expressive, orchard-fruited Marlborough Chardonnay from a winery best known for its red wines.

Swiss-born Georg Fromm and winemaker Hätsch Kalberer set up in Marlborough in 1992 with an unusual aim for the region: to make serious, age-worthy wines from low-yielding vines, with a strong focus on reds. The vineyards are certified organic and hand-picked, and the same restrained approach carries into the cellar. This Chardonnay is built on texture and balance, with apple, pear and just-ripe nectarine, a warm apple-pie note and subtle vanilla, and a gentle phenolic grip from the grape skins, all kept fresh by lively acidity.

Serve lightly chilled, around 10 to 12 degrees. Pork belly with apple, roast chicken, crumbed fish or a soft washed-rind cheese will pick up on its orchard fruit.
