Fromm Riesling Spätlese 2024

Fromm Riesling Spätlese is a luscious, late-picked Marlborough Riesling in the German tradition, its sweetness balanced by bright acidity.

Spätlese is German for late harvest, and this Swiss-founded winery has long made the style from Riesling grown on its Marlborough home block. Leaving the grapes to hang later concentrates their sugar and flavour, and the finished wine keeps a generous level of natural sweetness, held in check by the region's crisp acidity. The vines are certified organic and picked by hand. The 2024 offers freshly squeezed lime, white nectarine, crunchy apple and white blossom, then a juicy, concentrated palate with mouthwatering freshness and a subtle chalky minerality.

Serve well chilled. It is lovely with spicy Asian dishes, pork with apple, blue cheese or a fruit tart, and its acidity gives it the potential to age for many years.
