Fromm Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Fromm Vineyard Pinot Noir is the original single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Fromm's home site in Marlborough, now released with some bottle age.

This is where the story began for the Swiss-founded winery in the early 1990s, and its Pinot Noir was the estate's first flagship. Wines from this site are known for concentration, a distinct sense of place and an ability to age superbly, with structure that never feels heavy. The vineyard is certified organic and picked by hand. The 2017 opens with charming bright fruit, sweet spice and florals lifted by minerality, followed by ripe red fruit, effortless structure, fine persistent tannins and balanced acidity that carries a long, elegant finish.

At nearly a decade old it rewards gentle handling: stand the bottle upright for a day, decant carefully and serve at around 16 degrees. Roast duck, pork belly or a mushroom and truffle dish would suit it well.
