Garagiste Balnarring Pinot Noir 2025

Garagiste Balnarring Pinot Noir is a Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir bottled from one vineyard.

Most vintages, this fruit disappears into the Stagiaire Pinot and Chardonnay, where it does the quiet structural work. It only appears under its own name when the season delivers both yield and quality, and 2025 did. The vineyard lies about ten kilometres from the flagship Merricks site, close enough to share a climate and far enough to taste different, with a darker fruit profile and a tannin that comes out fine and grainy. MV6 was planted here in 1996, in the brown-grey loamy soils typical of the region, and the vines are now old enough to give real depth without needing much help in the winery.

Dark cherry and blackberry, with woody herbs, spice and a firm, grainy tannin frame. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees with an hour of air. It suits duck, beef cheeks, a mushroom and barley risotto, or roast pork with fennel.
