Georges Duboeuf Domaine de Javernière Morgon Côte du Py is a powerful, age-worthy Beaujolais cru from the most famous hillside in Morgon.

The Côte du Py is a rounded hill of decomposed schist and blue stone rising above the village of Villié-Morgon, and its wines are among the most structured and long-lived in Beaujolais. Domaine de Javernière holds vines on the slope, and this cuvée is bottled by the house of Georges Duboeuf, founded in Romanèche-Thorins by the man who did more than anyone to bring Beaujolais to the world. Made entirely from Gamay, the 2023 is a bright blueberry colour, with black cherry and white pepper aromas and a rich, fleshy palate, solid tannins and a persistent finish, keeping its elegance despite its power.

Serve slightly cool, around 15 to 16 degrees. It pairs well with coq au vin, roast pork, duck, terrines and Lyonnais sausage, and like good Morgon it can age for several years.
