Georges Duboeuf Le Clos Reyssier 1er Cru Pouilly-Fuissé 2020

Georges Duboeuf Le Clos Reyssier 1er Cru Pouilly-Fuissé is a white Burgundy from the Mâconnais appellation that sits beneath the great limestone rocks of Solutré and Vergisson.

Pouilly-Fuissé covers four communes in the far south of Burgundy, Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson, on steep limestone and marl slopes that give Chardonnay more weight and depth than the Mâconnais is generally credited with. After decades of campaigning by its growers, the appellation was granted its first premiers crus in 2020, twenty-two named climats promoted on the strength of their sites and their track record. Georges Duboeuf, based at Romanèche-Thorins since 1964, works well beyond Beaujolais and has long bottled wines from the Mâconnais. The wine is barrel fermented and matured on lees in the Burgundian manner.

Serve at about 12 degrees with roast chicken, veal, scallops or a firm goat's cheese; premier cru Pouilly-Fuissé rewards a few years in the cellar.
