Description
Gosset Celebris Rosé is the prestige rosé cuvée of the oldest wine house in Champagne, released only in years the house considers exceptional.
Gosset traces its origins to Aÿ in 1584, when Pierre Gosset was making still red wine on the Montagne de Reims; the house later moved its cellars to Épernay and has been in Cointreau family ownership for three decades. Its defining choice is technical rather than stylistic: malolactic fermentation is blocked across the range, so malic acidity is retained and the wines hold a taut mineral line beneath their long lees ageing. Celebris is the tête de cuvée, made only in years the house rates highly and drawn from grand cru and premier cru sites. The rosé blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a measure of still red wine from the Montagne villages, and is finished extra brut at six and a half grams per litre.
Long aged and dry rather than delicate, it suits crustacea, roast duck and mature hard cheese; serve at ten to twelve degrees in a white wine glass rather than a flute.
