Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs NV

Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs is the house's all Chardonnay Champagne, presented in a clear bottle and gift box.

Gosset was founded at Ay in 1584 and is the oldest wine house in Champagne, now based in Epernay. Its defining choice is to block malolactic fermentation, keeping malic acidity intact so the wines stay taut and reward long cellaring. Grand Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Chardonnay, drawn principally from the chalk villages of the Cote des Blancs together with fruit from the Montagne de Reims and the Sezannais, which broadens the palate rather than leaving it purely linear. Chardonnay on Champagne chalk gives citrus, white flower and a saline, mineral length, and the blocked malolactic fermentation preserves the malic acidity that gives this cuvee its cut. It is aged on lees in the cellars well beyond the legal minimum and finished with a low dosage. The bottle is clear glass and comes in a presentation box.

Precise, dry and chalky, it is a natural partner for oysters, raw fish, scallops and fresh goat cheese; serve chilled at around 9 degrees.
