Description
Gosset Grande Reserve is the flagship non vintage blend of the oldest wine house in Champagne, offered here in a half bottle.
Gosset was founded at Ay in 1584 and is the oldest wine house in Champagne, now based in Epernay. Its defining choice is to block malolactic fermentation, keeping malic acidity intact so the wines stay taut and reward long cellaring. Grande Reserve is the house's most complete non vintage cuvee, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a smaller share of Pinot Meunier, drawn from crus across the Montagne de Reims, the Cote des Blancs and the Vallee de la Marne, and built on a large share of reserve wines. It rests on lees in the cellars well beyond the legal minimum before disgorgement and is finished with a moderate dosage. The 375 millilitre format ages faster than a full bottle and is best drunk on release.
Firm, dry and vinous rather than soft, it works as an apertif and with oysters, sashimi and light fried food; serve at around 9 degrees.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
