Grosset Nereus Shiraz 2023

Grosset Nereus is a Clare Valley Shiraz from organically farmed vineyards on the western ridge.

Clare is warm by day and cold at night, and Shiraz grown at height here holds a savoury, peppery profile rather than the sweetness of lower, hotter sites. Nereus, named for the Greek sea god, comes from Grosset's own organic plantings and reflects the winery's shift towards varieties beyond Riesling. Fermentation uses wild yeast with some whole bunches, and maturation is in seasoned French oak.

Serve at 16 degrees with lamb, braised beef or a mushroom dish. It will develop over a decade.
