Description

Guffens-Heynen Mâcon-Pierreclos En Crazy is a named-parcel Chardonnay from Pierreclos in the hills west of Mâcon.

Mâcon-Pierreclos is one of the named village appellations of the Mâconnais, its clay-limestone slopes sitting slightly inland from Solutré and Vergisson. Guffens-Heynen has been based in the commune since 1979 and treats its Mâcon parcels with the same discipline as the Pouilly-Fuissé ones: severely restricted yields, hand picking at full ripeness, slow whole-bunch pressing, fermentation with wild yeasts and ageing in barrel, with no fining or filtration before bottling. En Crazy is kept separate as a parcel selection rather than being folded into a larger blend.

Good now and for about five years; serve with roast poultry, creamy pasta or comté at 10-12°C.
